Month 8: Weeks 29-32

Week 29

We started this week by getting my Rhogam shot and my glucose test results. Both went fine, the shot in my bum didn't hurt and I don't have gestational diabetes. I did gain a pound in 4 days, which is amazing considering I was eating very carefully this weekend, for the most part. I'm just in a crazy growth spurt at the moment.

Here's Mike! He came to help me at work, and we discovered that his head is smaller than my uterus.

Week 30

Yes, week 30. Ten weeks left! Amazing.

So here we are, 3/4 of the way done, and only a few stretchmarks so far. They're not very visible yet, but it looks a bit like I fell and skinned my belly in one spot. Not very dramatic, but stretch marks nontheless. I can't believe I'm going to be looking back on these pictures in a couple months thinking "Look how small I was!"

So far, still no complaints. My back doesn't hurt, my ankles aren't swollen, my hormones aren't raging, I can eat spicy foods just fine. I get a little tired walking around all afternoon, but a short nap and I'm fine. I do get pretty strong contractions from time to time, but I just stand still and wait them out, no problem. The baby is ferociously kicking around, sometimes it feels quick and twinkly like tap dancing, sometimes it stretches and pushes as hard as it can. If Mike leans any part of himself against my belly, the baby aims for him. Mike particularly enjoys getting kicked in the face, so he lays with his head against me so long I have red ear-shaped creases in my skin. I love it.

Week 31

The baby has been taking aim for anything that touches my belly, including the elastic on my pants. Sometimes I swear it's jumping.

See? When I sit down my belly doesn't look so big.

Here's a video of the baby rolling. If you compare the first frame with the last one, you can see it's new position. (ah, gotta love the silliness of web cams)

Week 32

What? Week 32 already? That means there are only 6 weeks left before I hit that "she can go any time" period. 6 weeks! 8 until my due date. Holy cow.

This week is my next appointment. Pretty soon I'll have to start going in every 2 weeks. I got a couple new stretch marks at the beginning of this week - those things just pop up overnight. Luckily, they aren't too noticable, and will fade away after birth. Mike and I registered for gifts at Walmart at his family's request. It was very odd to go through and pick things that may end up in our house. It kind of drove homethe idea that a baby is going to result from all this. Funny, but that concept isn't easy to grasp. I can now use my belly as a coffee table, and lay out a wide array of snacks and beverages on it.
